    • The      season opener. Top women’s tennis stars (like Swiatek and Gauff)      represent their countries in this mixed-team event to warm up for the      Australian Open.

  • ❄️     Jan 9 – 11: ISU European Speed Skating Championships (Poland)
       
    • A      critical final test for European speed skaters before they head to Italy      for the Olympics.

  • ⛸️     Jan 12 – 18: ISU European Figure Skating Championships (Sheffield, UK)
       
    • High      Priority: In an Olympic year, this is the last chance for European      skaters to prove their form. Expect to see medal contenders perfecting      their routines here.

  • 🎾     Jan 18 – Feb 1: THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN (Melbourne, Australia)
       
    • Major      Event. The first Grand Slam of 2026. Women's Singles Final is usually      the last Saturday (Jan 31), but the tournament runs through Feb 1. Aryna      Sabalenka will likely be defending her hard-court dominance.

  • 🏂     Jan 23 – 25: Winter X Games (Aspen, USA)
       
    • The      most prestigious event in action sports. Snowboard and Ski      Slopestyle/Halfpipe athletes will use this as their final "dress      rehearsal" for the Olympics.

  • 🤽‍♀️     Jan 26 – Feb 5: European Women's Water Polo Championship (Funchal,     Portugal)
       
    • A      major continental championship. The best teams in Europe clash just      before the Olympic break (note: Water Polo is a Summer Olympic sport, so      this is their main winter focus).

  • ⚽     Jan 28 – Feb 1: FIFA Women's Champions Cup (London, UK)
       
    • Inaugural      Event. This is huge. The best women's club teams from around the      world (NWSL champions vs. UEFA Champions League winners) meet to crown a      true "World Club Champion."

  • 🚴‍♀️     Jan 30 – Feb 1: UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships (Hulst,     Netherlands)
